Prof. Daniel Metzger, Ph.D.

Daniel Metzger is Professor of Finance at the University of Cologne. He studied mathematics in Bonn and at the University of Warwick, and economics at the University of Bonn and UC Berkeley. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics. His academic career took him from positions as an Assistant and Associate Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) to a professorship in Finance at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), before he eventually moved to the University of Cologne.

In addition to the Centre for Financial Research (CFR) at the University of Cologne, he is affiliated with several research institutions, including the Financial Markets Group at the LSE, the Swedish House of Finance (SHoF), the Finance and Labor Group, the HKU Jockey Club, and the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). He has also been accepted as a faculty member in the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute: Markets & Public Policy.

Daniel Metzger's research interests lie at the intersection of finance and labor economics. He examines how financial markets and corporate financing decisions interact with labor market decisions. He is also interested in the financial literacy of managers and households, as well as in entrepreneurship and innovation.

He has published his research findings in renowned academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Economic Studies.
